Jenny Marrs Shares Advice Erin Napier Gave On First Book: ‘Write To Your Kids’

By Movieguide® Contributor

FIXER TO FABULOUS’ Jenny Marrs is sharing the advice friend and fellow HGTV star Erin Napier gave her about writing her first book, “House + Love = Home.”

“The book is about encouraging people to find beauty all around them, and not to feel…overwhelmed by all of the information out there in the world, like ‘I’m not good enough, my house doesn’t measure up, oh Instagram, Pinterest, whatever.’ But really making your home a reflection of who you are,” Marrs said of the home decor book.

Marrs explained that the book is “a letter” to her children: “Stories about them, and things that I want them to remember or that I want them to have. So it’s really something that I feel like at the end of the day I wrote for them.”

“[That] was something Erin had encouraged me [to do] early on,” she said. “When I was writing, and I was like ‘How did you find time, how did you do this?’ It’s so overwhelming when you think about finding the time but also thinking about critics reading it. She was like ‘Don’t think about them. Just think about writing it to your kids.’ So that’s what I did, and that was wonderful advice from her.”

A synopsis of “House + Love = Home” reads, “Alongside gorgeous photos of the Marrs’ restored farmhouse, their delightful kids, and many other spaces they’ve reimagined, Jenny and Dave share their personal journey of establishing their own home, an ever-growing family and a busy, sustainable business. Woven throughout are wonderful essays by Jenny about their lives on the Marrs farm and how they seek to live intentionally with a deep abiding faith and purpose.”

FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs recently announced that the release of her new book, “House + Love = Home: Creating Warm, Intentional Spaces for a Beautiful Life,” is set for this coming November.

Starting Nov. 14, fans of the show can purchase the book, which Marrs said is not your standard “how-to” renovation book.

“I didn’t want to write a standard how-to guide for decorating or renovating your home,” she explained. “There are enough beautiful and well-written books on the subject out there already. And, honestly, I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all guide that accounts for personal style and preference. Instead, I wanted to write a book to encourage you to be creative with your home.”

Marrs returned the favor when it came time for Napier to put together her latest book, “Heirloom Rooms.” Her kitchen is featured in the home design book.

“When @erinapier asked me to share a meaningful object in my kitchen for her new book, I chose the gold-foiled print of Grandma Marrs’ Strawberry Shortcake recipe. It is one of my most beloved possessions,” she posted on Instagram. “It represents all of the lessons we learned from her while in the kitchen together, the place she felt most at home. She loved preparing meals for her family and hospitality was her love language. Every time I glance over while stirring a pot of soup on the stove and glimpse her handwriting framed next to me, I smile.”
