Jeremy Camp to Go On Tour After Heart Surgery Drew Him ‘Closer to Jesus’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Christian artist Jeremy Camp is ready to get back on his feet after heart surgery.

“Update!! At home and resting after a successful surgery, but see you on TOUR next week! 😎🥳 Thank you Jesus!” Camp shared on Instagram last week.

Camp had the surgery on March 11. Movieguide® reported on his recovery the day after:

[Camp’s] wife, Adrienne, shared an update following the surgery.

“Just wanted to give you an update on Jeremy…He’s resting and has to lay completely flat for a while. He’s enjoying being spoon fed by me. Lol!” she wrote on her husband’s Instagram. “Surgery was a success but it’ll take a few months to fully heal. We are beyond grateful for how you guys have cared for us in prayer.”

“Also, so grateful for an incredible Dr and staff,” she added before quoting Psalm 73:26, which reads, “My strength and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Camp also had heart surgery last year but chose not to make it public.

“In a video posted to Instagram just days after undergoing surgery to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition where the heart rhythm becomes irregular and often rapidly beats, the 46-year-old singer and his wife, Adie, opened up about the ordeal,” The Christian Post reported.

“I’ve been learning a lot,” Camp said. “I’ve always battled with trust…with doing things in my own strength. Being the guy who’s super healthy and fit and I think, ‘I can get this, I’m gonna stay healthy forever.’”

However, he learned that not all aspects of his health are something that he can control.

“This just came on, it’s just a defect. It’s nothing that I did or nothing that I caused. It’s just something that happened,” he shared.

“Realizing that my life is in God’s hands, literally, like coming to grips with that. I can’t control it. I can do the best I can with my health, the best you can with protecting your family, protecting things or whatever. But ultimately, God is in control and He loves us more than we even know,” he continued.

“And so, for me, I feel like He’s stripping apart every little ounce of control that I think I have in literally making me rely so much more on Him in a beautiful way. And it’s been so, so rich, and it’s drawing me a lot closer to Jesus,” he said.

Though recent photos of Camp show him in a hospital bed, he’s excited and ready for his next shows.

Camp shared on Instagram on the 18th, “I have been getting better ❤️‍🩹 and really excited about this weekend. There is so much to share about all the things God is teaching me. Ready to kick off #thetheatertour in Franklin North Carolina this Thursday and play a couple new songs from my album Deeper Waters coming soon!”
