Jeremy Camp Recovering from Heart Surgery: ‘Beyond Grateful’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Grammy award-nominated artist Jeremy Camp and his family are asking fans to pray for him following his recent surgery to correct his atrial fibrillation (AFib).
“I debated telling everybody this, but for some reason, just felt like I should tell everybody because I have a lot of people saying, ‘What can we be praying for you?'” he posted on Instagram before the surgery.
“There’s a lot of prayer warriors out there. A lot of people who have been praying for me for different things, and I’m super thankful for it. So, I want to bring this up with intention. I actually have surgery on Monday,” the singer revealed.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is an irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm. An irregular heart rhythm is called an arrhythmia. AFib can lead to blood clots in the heart. The condition also increases the risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications.”
Camp underwent a cardiac ablation, which will use “heat or cold energy to create tiny scars in the heart. The scars block faulty heart signals and restore a typical heartbeat.”
“They’ll go through the veins in my leg, and they help this thing called AFib,” the singer described. “My heart is in a crazy rhythm, and it was affecting a lot of things.”
Camp explained that during his shows, his heart would beat “really, really fast,” making it hard for him to breathe and function during live performances or anything involving an increased heart rate.
His wife, Adrienne, shared an update following the surgery.
“Just wanted to give you an update on Jeremy…He’s resting and has to lay completely flat for a while. He’s enjoying being spoon fed by me. Lol!” she wrote on her husband’s Instagram. “Surgery was a success but it’ll take a few months to fully heal. We are beyond grateful for how you guys have cared for us in prayer.”
“Also, so grateful for an incredible Dr and staff,” she added before quoting Psalm 73:26, which reads, “My strength and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Pray for Camp as he recovers from his procedure.
Movieguide® previously reported on Camp:
Christian musician Jeremy Camp opened up about the inspiration behind latest single “Anxious Heart.”
Camp, the real-life inspiration behind Movieguide® Award-nominated I STILL BELIEVE, released “Anxious Heart” earlier this month.
“Wow guys, the response has been so encouraging, thank you,” he captioned a post about the single. “I went through a really dark time some years ago and wanted to share a little more story behind the song. I really pray that this song reminds you of God being our ever present help in time of need. And He is the truly the calm for our anxious heart.”
“This is probably one of the more personal songs I’ve written in a long time,” he continued in the video. Camp went on to talk about a time in his life when everything felt “overwhelming,” including fears about his daughters’ safety on a mission trip.
