Country artist Jelly Roll just guest hosted JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and revealed that he and actor Kevin James have a movie in the works.
James, who appeared on the show, came out on stage with a guitar. When Jelly Roll asked, “Can you play anything?” the actor revealed he had just started learning and could only play two chords. As the audience laughed, Jelly Roll segwayed into James’ new movie.
“All jokes aside, you have been prepping for a film I know you’re excited about. You are coming into the country music space, and you’re going to shoot a country music film,” Jelly Roll said.
“It’s going to be a crazy one. And you know how crazy it is because my man is doing it with me. You’re going to be my partner in crime,” James revealed as the crowd cheered.
“There’s no way I would let Kevin James do a country music movie and not be a part of his country music movie,” Jelly Roll confirmed.
“We have to get me to be able to look like I know what I’m doing, right? And it’s going to be a journey,” James quipped.
While details about its title, release date and cast haven’t been announced yet, Taste of Country thinks that, based on James’ comments, Jelly Roll will be on camera.
“This guy is an amazing actor. He can do anything. God gave it all to you,” James gushed.
Jelly Roll has appeared on screen before, cameoing as himself on an episode of TULSA KING and playing “an ex-convict looking to get a fresh start in life as a healthcare worker” on CBS’ FIRE COUTRY.

“First day ever acting, I like it a lot,” Jelly Roll said of his FIRE COUNTRY role. “I’m playing a guy who’s a second chance man, who’s been in and out of prison but lost his mother due to dementia. So my form of rehabilitation for myself and to give back as a man of service was I came to work at the local nursing home.”
Their country music movie won’t be the first time James and Jelly Roll worked together together. In June, the country star brought James to the Buckeye Country Superfest where the pair sang together on stage.
“I’m a good friend of his,” James told PEOPLE. “We just happened to be in Columbus together, and we just went out and had fun.”
In the same interview, James emphasized that Jelly Roll is a “great friend of mine” and a “wonderful human being.”
Jelly Roll and James’ fans have a lot to look forward to from the friends!
