Laurel Daigle Reaches New Milestone as ‘Look Up Child’ Goes Double Platinum

Lauren Daigle recently reached new heights. Her 2018 album “Look Up Child” went double platinum, and “Thank God I Do,” the lead single on her new self-titled album, went gold.
These milestones add to Daigle’s already impressive list of accolades. Daigle is a two-time Grammy, seven-time Billboard Music and four-time American Music Award winner. Her hit song, “You Say,” has been a mainstay on the Christian charts since it was released in 2018, and her 23-track self-titled album, which she released last year, debuted at No. 3 on the Top 200 albums chart.
While her new album tells her story and is more pop-based, she remains true to her Christian roots, and God is present in all 23 songs. Shortly after its release, Daigle began her international Kaleidoscope tour, taking her from the U.S. to Europe and Australia.
The main message of her music is hope and the joy that comes from knowing the Lord.
“The people that played on this record, all the musicianship [and] the collaborative efforts of just joy and keeping music pure in the way we create—I think that’s what people really gravitate toward,” she said at this year’s Grammys. “The sonic space of it all, and just the heart and soul behind it… I think that’s what landed us here.”
Much of the joy on her album came from relying on God during a dark period in her life. Once she was through that period, she turned that joyful energy into song to share the hope she found through Christ.
“‘God, I need you to give me joy every single day because that’s the thing that will get me moving,’” Daigle would pray. “I would say joy inspires me.”
With joy at the center of her platform, Daigle is now advocating for larger topics such as adoption and discussing mental health.

“‘Where’s your favorite place to go?’ and I say, ‘Places you’d never know.’ Prison,” she said in an Instagram video of a recent visit to the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center in Oklahoma.
The video showed Daigle performing and speaking to the women.
“God yearns for you. He yearns for all of us. How amazing is that?” she told the crowd, adding, “There is hope for your future. There is.”
The video’s caption quoted Daigle: “When you go into prisons and sing, that is where you get a true sense of freedom.”
