A light came on for GOOD LUCK CHARLIE star Leigh-Allyn Baker when she attended a Bible study one day.
“I was a believer, but I wasn’t in relationship,” Baker recalled on THE 700 CLUB. “I didn’t understand that. That had actually never been explained to me.”
She attended a Bible study that opened her eyes.
“They said that you are cloaked in his righteousness,” she explained. “Not because of how good you are, but because of how good He is. And that was the moment I was like, ‘What? How come no one ever told me that?’”
She had always felt that she wasn’t good enough to be close to God.
“I kind of thought, ‘Well, why try? Why bother God with my day-to-day when He has so many more important things to do?’ Now I go to God for what creamer I should use in my coffee,” she joked.
In 2024, Baker received attention for her beliefs about cancel culture, vaccines and mask mandates.
“God has set me on a new path. It’s not one I ever would have anticipated,” Baker said. “It’s not one I ever would have volunteered for, but He uses all bad for good, and so I’m grateful for all the haters.”
She added, “I’m so grateful for the entire experience. My life is so much better because of it.”
In February, Baker attended the I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 premiere.
She said, “In a world so full of darkness, we need hope! @icanonlyimaginemovie is a beautiful reminder that we not alone in the fire, we are carried through the storms and we are deeply loved by God. Even if the world is dark, even if there is sorrow, even if life is hard…EVEN IF…be thankful for another day, be thankful for mercy, for grace, for love!”
In an episode of GOD’S APPOINTED TIMES, Baker shared why she loves Psalms.
“Psalm 91 made me feel free and safe,” Baker said. “I mean, there was a point at night where I had a gun safe that — I had to sleep with a gun next to my bed because of the threats, and someone prayed Psalm 91 over me and I felt way more empowered than that piece of metal next to me ever could have made, and I felt more untouchable, safer, freer.”
In the end, Baker says it was understanding God’s grace that brought her true freedom. He’s in the small things just as much as He’s in the big things.
