Louisiana State University baseball star Daniel Dickinson is so grateful for his mom’s constant support throughout his life.

“I was actually born by an anonymous insemination donor, and so  I’ve never had a father figure,” Dickinson revealed during a press conference after a game last week. “I’m an only child as well. So my mother is literally my rock. She’s at every single game.”

When the athlete was in high school, he didn’t realize how special it was that his mother attended all of his games.

“I kind of took it for granted of her being at all my games. She’s never missed a game,” he said. “She has every single home run ball up until this year. It’s kind of hard to get those from other people, but she’s been at every single game. And I remember my senior year of high school, I took it for granted.”

“Then I went to fall at Utah Valley, and she wasn’t in the stands,” he continued. “I realized that that was kind of like my relaxation before a game. I don’t know if you guys see, but after I pray, I always give that I love you hand signal to her up in the stands. It’s kind of just our thing and my appreciation to her being there in the stands, every single time.”

Dickinson classifies himself as a “follower of Christ” in his Instagram bio and posts about his faith often.

“A chance to turn dreams to reality, thank you, Lord. Psalm 9:1 † LET’S RIDE,” he shared before the Tigers played West Virginia earlier this week.

Psalm 9:1 reads: “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”

The Tigers defeated the Mountaineers 12-5 and improved to “48-15 with Sunday’s victory, while West Virginia completed its season with a 44-16 mark,” per the LSU Tigers media team.

“I told the team after the game, I’m super proud of them because the rewards of ‘tough and together’ were out there on the field tonight,” LSU coach Jay Johnson told the media after the game. “I can’t wait to go chase a national championship with them.”

“It’s so fun and exciting and rewarding to see all the people so passionate about LSU Baseball, and I’m so thankful for the effort from everybody in this program. And it was an awesome night. I have a lot of gratitude, and I’m just very thankful,” he added.

Dickinson and the Tigers aren’t sure who they will be facing in Omaha, Nebraska, but one thing is for certain: Dickinson’s mom will be cheering him on from the stands.
