Dallas Wings point guard Paige Bueckers had an incredible rookie season in the WNBA, expressing her gratitude to God.

The athlete recently appeared on THE JENNIFER HUDSON SHOW, where she was presented with the trophy for Rookie of the Year.

As Bueckers walked down the tunnel, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert presented her with the trophy, which she clearly wasn’t expecting to receive.

Paige Bueckers is the 2025 WNBA @Kia Rookie of the Year. Averaging 19.2 PPG, 5.4 APG, 3.9 RPG, Bueckers led the @dallaswings as one of the most dynamic rookies the league has ever seen,” the WNBA celebrated on X.

She reflected on her first pro season on social media, too.

“Thank you God for an amazing rookie year🙏🏼Process over results. Unconditional joy and gratitude, so much to be thankful for. Love my squad, they all deserve Teammates of the Year in my book, nothing is possible without them🤞🏼Now let’s keep on keeping on. Go wings!” Bueckers wrote.

She then included Proverbs 16:9: “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.”

According to the WNBA, aside from her points and rebounds per game, Bueckers achieved several other incredible stats that include:

  • Was the only player this season ranked in the top 10 in points, assists, and steals per game.
  • Became the first rookie in WNBA history to average at least 15.0 points and 5.0 assists and shoot 45.0 percent or higher from the field in a season.
  • Scored at least 10 points in each of her first 30 games, the fourth-longest streak to begin a career in WNBA history.
  • Became the second rookie in WNBA history to record multiple games of at least 35 points, joining Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale (2019).
  • Became the second rookie in WNBA history to finish with at least 500 points, 150 assists, 100 rebounds and 50 steals in a season, joining Caitlin Clark (2024).
  • Posted ten games with at least 20 points and five assists, the second most by a rookie in WNBA history (Clark had 18 last season).
  • Became the fastest rookie in WNBA history to reach 500 points and 100 assists.

She certainly deserves the Rookie of the Year award. Although the Dallas Wings have been knocked out of playoff contention, Bueckers looks to continue putting in the work in hopes of earning the Wings a championship in a later season.
