Paramount+ has revealed new details for the FRASIER reboot.
The new series will premiere October 12 on the streaming service with two episodes. The rest of the 10-episode series will air each Thursday. The first two episodes will also air on CBS on October 17.
“The new series follows Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill,” a press release about the reboot reads. “Frasier has re-entered the building!”
Along with Grammer, Peri Gilpin and Bebe Neuwirth will return, reprising their roles as Roz and Lilith, respectively.
“Niles [Crane] and Daphne [Moon] are not coming back,” Grammar told TODAY of two fan-favorite characters. “If there is a spot for a one-off appearance, and they’re interested, I’m sure we would do something like that. But, it’s a new world. It’s a new life. Frasier’s going back to Boston to put himself back in a place where he didn’t feel like he quite made it.”
Jack Cutmore-Scott is joining the cast as Freddy, Frasier and Lilith’s son.
Nicholas Lyndhurst plays Alan, a college friend of Frasier’s who is now a professor. Toks Olagundoye stars as Olivia, the head of the psychology department at the university where Alan teaches, while Jess Salgueiro plays Freddy’s roommate, Eve.
Grammer also revealed that viewers “might see” some characters from CHEERS, the hit sitcom that spawned FRASIER, adding, “There’ll be new faces you’ll fall in love with.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the FRASIER reboot:
Kelsey Grammer recently updated FRASIER fans on the upcoming reboot, and it sounds like it has the Dr. Frasier Crane seal of approval!
“We’re in the final stages of the final script for the first episode of FRASIER, and it looks pretty good,” he said while appearing on THE TALK. “I’ve had a couple of runs through it, and I cried, so you know, I’m happy.”
He then joked about the key ingredient to the show: “Frasier. Honestly, it was always called that, so it’s me. The key is me or I am the key.”
