Holy Spirit Prompts Kelly Rowland to Reunite With Her Estranged Father After 30 Years
By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor
Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland felt the Holy Spirit prod her upon meeting with her estranged father after 30 years.
“I felt the Holy Spirit say to me, listen,” Rowland said on Instagram. “I listened to [my dad], I was nervous to trust him, nervous to forgive him, nervous to love him nervous about it all. And the truth is, I already loved him.”
Rowland posted about the reunion on Father’s Day.
“I have come to know SO much about myself, my family history, and even where my love of music & voice have come from! I Love you Daddy, and love being your little girl…even at 39! Lol,” added Rowland.
Although Rowland was “nervous,” the “Commander” singer called the moment “pivotal” in her life.
The Huffington Post reported that Rowland’s father was a drinker in her youth and verbally abusive toward her mother.
However, Lovett wanted to get in touch with Rowland and previously said, “I’m getting old now – I just hope she reads this and doesn’t leave getting back in touch with me before it is too late.”
Rowland had to be open to what the Lord was doing in order to facilitate the reunion. She had to embrace the biblical themes of forgiveness and love for a successful reconciliation.
In the coming year, Rowland will voice a character in RUGRATS alongside singer Christina Aguilera.
