DUCK DYNASTY Star Describes Biblical Solution to World’s Darkness

By Movieguide® Contributor

Sadie Robertson Huff believes that the church is called to be a light during dark times.

In a discussion with Crosswalk Headlines, she expanded on the matter.

“Jesus said to us that we are called to be the light of the world. We’re called to be a city on a hill — not to dim our lights and hide under the sand, but actually shine them so that God gets the glory,” she said.

Huff continued, “So I think it’s really tempting when the world gets darker to want to hide. But if you want the world to be brighter, you’re literally called to be a light. We are the solution as the church. Take on Jesus’ words.”

She also expressed the importance of leading by example on social media and honoring God in what we post.

“You’re in control of your social media…You get to decide what you post; you decide what you look at. And so, I think you have to take ownership and say, okay, I’m going to follow the people who are leading me to Christ, and I’m gonna post the things that lead others to Christ as well.”

The Christian influencer has spoken about social media in the past, explaining that it never paints the true picture of someone’s life.

“I think that’s the thing we have to realize…the picture can never display the full picture,” she said of posting on social media. “The caption can never articulate the fullness of a 24/7 reality.”

She’s also open about her struggles with anxiety and learning to “cast” her fears on God because “he cares for you.”

“And that is something that each of us are gonna have to do daily to receive that grace and that strength from God to get through. But God is so good,” Huff emphasized. “And His presence in your life can truly get you through those hard times.”

Sadie Robertson Huff is no stranger to anxiety. She’s dealt with it on and off for her entire life.  After defeating it for several years, her anxiety came back when she was postpartum with her first child. When she found out she was expecting again, she wanted to use the tools she learned to make her second postpartum easier.

“I went through postpartum anxiety, which I didn’t really see coming because I had been living free of anxiety for maybe like two years at that point, and then it just slapped me in the face,” Huff said.  “I wanted to do this [podcast] again even before I had the baby to remind me of the truth that I found and the ways out of fear that I found.”

Huff is getting ready to release her next devotional, “The Next Step: 50 Devotions to Find Your Way Forward.”

“This devotional journey guides you on how to apply God’s wisdom every day, to fuel and inspire your interactions with others, to know how much God loves and cares deeply about every part of your life, and to confidently take your next steps toward a meaningful future,” she said of the book on Instagram. “You don’t need to know it all now. Just take the next step.”
