The Robertson family revealed that Miss Kay’s health is in decline after the death of her husband, Phil, at the end of May.
“Kay is not in the best of health,” Willie Robertson told USA TODAY Network. “We’re trying to help her out as much as we can… Some of it is that she is just depressed. She lost her partner of 60 years.”
The health update comes after Kay had been hospitalized earlier this year after a fall left her with a cut that became infected. Though she has since recovered, she was certainly in bad shape as the family was not even sure if she would survive.
“Kay had another fall, which, she falls a lot. And it was a substantial injury,” Jase Robertson said in February, adding that his mom is doing “pretty well” despite the significant injury it caused. A previous fall left her with a broken foot, and she and Phil had 24/7 support as their health deteriorated.
“There are people that are around them 24/7 — ‘cause obviously we can’t be around them at all times — sent me a very graphic picture where she cut her leg. It was a horror show; it was severe,” Jase continued. “I was fixing to get up onstage and I see this picture of my mom, I was like, ‘oh man.’ I was like, ‘get her to the hospital. I gotta speak.’”
In April, Jase gave an update that Kay was doing a lot better as doctors worked to get her strength up.

“For my mom, it’s been a lot better this past week, because she was really not doing good,” Jase said. “She’s got an infection from a fall, from a cut that happened earlier… She’s still in the hospital, but [now it is] more rehab, physically, and trying to get her to eat.”
Kay’s health was in a good enough spot that she was able to appear on some of the episodes of DUCK DYNASTY: THE REVIVAL, though her appearances become less frequent as the season progresses.
The show really does shepherd in a new era of the Robertson family as they have to run everything without the help of Phil or Kay. One thing that has not changed, though, is how committed the family is to their faith.
“We want to be in every space we can, to be able to show people the love of Christ, the light that we have that we can reflect that, and I think television is a great way to do that,” Willie told The Christian Post. “Hopefully, we’ve inspired others to do that, as we’ve been inspired as well by others who have put that out there in a different way.”
As they continue to navigate difficult situations, Christ will certainly serve as the Robertsons’ rock and allow them to continue forward with hope, rather than despair.
