A new CARE BEARS movie is in the works!

Few details have been released yet, but we know that Josh Greenbaum at Warner Bros. will direct. Chris Bender and Jake Weiner of Good Fear and John Francis and Jonathan Goldstein of GoldDay will produce. Sean Gorman and Daniel Barnes for Cloudco will executive produce, while Sheila Walcott will oversee the movie for the studio.

“Some very exciting news to share…I’m beyond thrilled to be working on a new Care Bears movie for Warner Bros!” Greenbaum celebrated on Instagram. “It’s a dream project — bringing these iconic, adorable, slightly judgy little creatures to the big screen. And hopefully the one that finally earns me some bear-y overdue street cred with my daughters. Nope, wait — they were reading this over my shoulder and just informed me the little cred I had is now officially gone. ❤️🐻🌈”

People in the comment section congratulated him on the role. “YES!! 🙌🙌Who better to lead the Care Bears than someone who’s basically been a Care Bear in disguise, with slightly better jokes😉 In a world that desperately needs kindness, connection, and true friendship, you’re the perfect voice to bring that to life,” one user said.

Another person added, “Care bear STARE!!!!!!!! Congrats!”

Care Bears originated with the American Greeting Card company in 1981. Originally intended to be cute creatures on greeting cards, they became toys and stuffed animals the following year.

The line began with 10 original bears: Bedtime, Birthday, Cheer, Friend, Funshine, Good Luck, Grumpy, Love-a-Lot, Tenderheart and Wish Bear.

The first time Care Bears arrived on screens was in a show titled THE CARES BEARS IN THE LAND WITHOUT FEELINGS in 1983. Shortly after that, new characters, the Care Bear Cousins, were introduced. These characters were not bears but were other animals that included “Brave Heart Lion, Bright Heart Raccoon, Cozy Heart Penguin, Gentle Heart Elephant, Loyal Heart Dog, Proud Heart Cat, Swift Heart Rabbit and Treat Heart Pig.”

Throughout the years, there have been numerous other TV shows and films inspired by the Care Bears. The most recent was the 2019 series CARE BEARS: UNLOCK THE MAGIC.

The Care Bears franchise has made over $470 million in worldwide retail sales in 2024 alone and more than $10 billion since it began over four decades ago.

The release date for the new CARE BEARS film has not yet been announced, so stay tuned for updates.
