FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs prays very intentionally over her kids, and God’s answered her request to give them good friends.

“I know I’m not the only mom who has prayed for their beloved babies to be surrounded by good friends as they grow. I remember making the decision when the boys were entering 2nd grade to, after much prayer, move them (and their sister who was about to start kindergarten) to a new school,” Marrs recalled in an Instagram post.

She and her husband, Dave, chose to move them to a school that doesn’t shuffle the kids around. They prioritized their kids’ friendships over sports and academics.

“We’ve watched our boys grow up with, play sports alongside and walk through life with their best buds,” she wrote. “Now that they’re teens, I can honestly say there is no greater gift we can give our younger kids than the gift of friendships. Young mommas: Pray for friends, foster those relationships with play dates and time together and sports and adventures.”

She admitted it takes time and effort on the parents’ part, but it’s worth it.

“This year, my boys have both walked through deep heartache and these friends have walked with them and prayed for them and have showed up for them in ways that I never could have expected of 15 and 16 year old kids,” she said. “Teens often have a bad reputation but I believe they were born for such a time as this. This next generation is brave and God is on the move in and through them. 🤍”

Marrs celebrated her twins, Nate and Ben’s, 15th birthday on May 29. She reflected on their lives and the gifts that they are to her.

“I still picture you both as the itty-bitty preemies who fit in the literal palm of your dad’s hand or the rambunctious toddlers who giggled as you emptied every kitchen cabinet while my back was turned loading the dishwasher,” she said, “or the little boys who pretended to be gold miners out by the pond or the bigger kids who loved parkour and practiced ninja warrior techniques off the sofa.”

She told them she was very proud to be their mom and wished them “the happiest of birthdays.”

Last year, Marrs prepared her boys for high school. She shared a letter that she wrote to her boys the day after they graduated kindergarten.

“I want you to trust that you are here at this time, in this place, a part of this generation for a very important purpose…” part of the letter said. “My prayer for the next twelve years is for this to be a time where you can learn and stretch and grow and feel safe enough to make mistakes. I want you to know you have a safety net behind you; encouraging you, loving you, helping you back up when you get knocked down.”

What a great example of intentional parenting. May all of Marrs’ sweet prayers for her kids be answered.
