LL Cool J made a surprise appearance in a promo for next week’s NCIS episode.
Cool J played Sam Hanna in NCIS: LOS ANGELES. TV Line reported is character recently appeared in the promo for the April 21 episode, titled “Reboot.”
In the promo, Parker and Jimmy find Hanna sitting in a side office after lights go out in the NCIS building. “Guess I should’ve called, huh?” Hanna asks.
Cool J will also appear in April 28’s episode.
Cool J plays a former Navy SEAL who works as an undercover special agent. LOS ANGELES ran for 14 seasons before it ended. Hanna did return on NCIS: HAWAI’I and in NCIS in Season 22.

TV Line says this may be Hanna’s chance to step in as director since Leon Vance recently died.
Cool J will also kick off a new spinoff, NCIS: NEW YORK, where he will star alongside rapper Scott Caan, PEOPLE reported.
The logline says Hanna “returns to his hometown of New York City to their field office” and partners with a “roguish agent,” played by Caan. They will lead “a new team as they are tasked with high-stakes missions to defend one of the most vital cities and ports in the world.”
Cool J also serves as an executive producer with R. Scott Gemmill and Jason Barrett.
NCIS: LOS ANGELES ended on an open note.
“The story definitely wasn’t over at all, that’s for sure,” Cool J said. “We’re finding out more about Sam, but remember, this is a different thing because Sam was transferred here.”
He told Deadline Hollywood about the new series: “There will be some lines in there that set up New York and it’s gonna be a lot of fun… A lot of sarcasm, a lot of banter, a lot of witty repartees, a lot of New York. It’s gonna be everything you need to get.”
Cool J was interested to play Hanna in a new setting.
“Context give the meaning to stories, you know,” he explained. “Context is everything, right? So seeing him in the New York setting, the New York vibes is gonna be interesting, and then on top of that, he’s a superhero.”
“This is the guy who puts his life on the line for his partners, for his friends, for the people that he loves, for his country,” he continued. “And I think that’s cool.”
The show will come out this fall and will air on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., Deadline reported.
