Actor Brett Varvel shared his excitement at being a part of the upcoming “America Reads the Bible” event.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and it’s something I’m beyond humbled and honored to be a part of,” he told Movieguide®.
America Reads the Bible is a week-long event in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, featuring 12 hours daily of scripture reading at the Museum of the Bible.

“This is a moment in time in our nation’s history that we can come together, we can put aside all the political differences, all the economic differences that might segregate or divide us, and get back to what this country was founded on, and that’s the word of God,” Varvel explained.
He continued, “There’s something powerful about God’s word being spoken out loud and not just being read privately in our own home, and the fact that I get to be a part of that — I can’t wait to see how God’s going to move in it.”
“I hope that it will bring healing,” Varvel concluded. “I hope that it will bring inspiration, and touch a lot of lives.”
America Reads the Bible is organized by Christians Engaged founder Bunni Pounds, who told The Christian Post that the purpose of the event is to “call the American people back to daily Bible reading for the well-being of our country.”
“I really feel like we’re laying an offering at the feet of Jesus. Everything we do in government, politics, media, education — all these spheres of influence — is critically important,” she said. “We’re not only incredibly thankful to the Lord that we get the privilege, [but] we get to read the Bible in public, we get to pray in public, then we have a problem internally, ourselves and our families. And so I believe this is a calling moment. I believe this is a return for us as the Body of Christ.”
In addition to Varvel, Candace Cameron Bure, Cameron and BJ Arnett, Dean Cain, Andy Erwin, Patricia Heaton and many more are set to read scripture.
“We are thrilled to unite with the body of Christ as national spokespersons of America Reads the Bible, to advance the Word of God in our culture and to see its far-reaching impact on individuals, families, communities and businesses across the U.S.,” the Arnetts shared in a joint statement.
America Reads the Bible will take place from April 18 to April 25.
