In the first episode of Season 1 of IGGY AND MR. KIRK, streaming on Great American Pure Flix, the pair caring for a bird who got injured while inside their treehouse, which causes Mr. Kirk to cancel their planned fishing trip so they can continue to watch over the bird while it heals. The pair ends up creating a safe habitat for it before Mr. Kirk reads Iggy one of his books about caring for others.

As the episode begins, Iggy is extremely excited because he and Mr. Kirk are about to go fishing. When Mr. Kirk arrives at the treehouse, however, things are out of place because a bird entered the building to take some of the worms they had gotten to fish with. Iggy is upset with the bird, but Mr. Kirk realizes it has become injured and, after he catches it, decides they will take care of it while it heals.

Though Iggy is sad that their day of fishing has been canceled, he now has the opportunity to care for the bird, starting with creating a shelter for it. The pair call upon Creative Lee, who arrives to show them how to decorate a shoe box to make it comfortable for a bird. After creating the habitat, Mailman Dan arrives and drops off a package for the pair – a new Brave Books book, which Mr. Kirk reads.

The book focuses on a mama bear and her son, who was born with one arm. Although life is hard, the mama bear cares for her son and helps him grow into a big and strong adult. He can live a fulfilling life of service to others despite his disability. When he returns home, he finds his mom now in need of him and happily cares for her, giving up his life of adventure to do so.

Once finished reading the book, Iggy and Mr. Kirk receive a message from Maple, their treehouse supercomputer, which includes a video from a young boy scared that his parents will not have time for him once his baby sister is born. Mr. Kirk, however, reassures the boy that not only will his parents still have time for him but that he will also be a great older brother who will help his parents out.

After receiving this message, Iggy and Mr. Kirk go to check on the bird and see it flying away, fully healed. They can see where it goes and find out it’s a mama bird collecting worms for her chicks. Iggy feels grateful he could share his worms and proud that he was able to help the mama bird heal.

Finally, Mr. Kirk puts Iggy to bed and promises him to go fishing tomorrow, not that their adventure with the bird has come to a close.

The first episode of IGGY AND MR. KIRK is exceptionally well-produced and offers an excellent experience for young children. Everything is explained at an age-appropriate level and even provides viewers with an activity to do in the future. Additionally, there are several jokes throughout the episode that are intended for parents, although they remain appropriate.

The show places a very strong emphasis on Christian and Biblical teachings, emphasizing friendship, community, generosity, caring for others, caring for nature, selflessness, and patience. Furthermore, Mr. Kirk makes multiple references to the Bible, sharing how God created people in His image, how He uniquely designs each person, and how God works in His own time. Furthermore, Mr. Kirk says the Aaronic Blessing over Iggy after putting him to bed. The episode also does not feature any questionable content of any type, so MOVIEGUIDE® finds IGGY AND MR.
