When Jesus rescued me from the most egregious depravities of the world of the entertainment industry, he laid on my heart the desire to redeem the mass media. As the years have passed, we’ve seen him move by bringing some of the most important people in the entertainment industry to Christ. Sometimes others in the church had boycotted these individuals, and years later still talked against them.
One was the president of one of the three major networks. When his son came down with cancer, I started talking and praying with him. Soon, he accepted Christ and changed all of his programming to family programming, much of it faith filled.
Several of the winners of the Epiphany prize and other Movieguide® Gala Prize winners have come back to tell us that winning a prize or award and hearing the Gospel at the Gala either brought them back to Christ or brought them to Jesus Christ.
Some have come to our How to Succeed in Hollywood Filmmaking classes and been convicted of God’s grace. One came to Christ and is now going to a reformed seminary and writing scripts about the apostles.
Some of our work has been overseas. In hardscrabble areas, filled with intense anti-American sentiments, held by Muslims, humanists, atheists, and others. One conference, after several talks people kept asking us to tell them more and more about Jesus. When we went back two years later, nearly a third of this intellectual think tank had come to Christ including the founder and financier.
Needless to say, none of this has anything to do with us. Sometimes we hear these stories from people months afterwards.
We are intentional about experiencing God’s grace and redeeming the media and helping parents teach their children to be media wise. The consequence has been God using us in our commitment to him to change the lives of some very wonderful significant and powerful people who reach millions through their movies and television programs. This is a cause for great thanksgiving.
God wants to use you for the good.
