Olympian Shawn Johnson East and Andrew have been keeping a secret: they’ve been training for the SPECIAL FORCES: WORLD’S TOUGHEST TEST Season 4
“Well…………we’ve been keeping a secret 👀💀☠️ Guess it’s out now. @realityclubfox #SpecialForcesFOX” Shawn shared in a teaser slide on Instagram on Aug. 7.
The photos showed Johnson with a bloody nose and Andrew and her dressed in camo.
SPECIAL FORCES puts celebrities through rigorous physical, mental and emotional training. Contestants choose to leave the show at any time — there are no eliminations.
Shawn answered questions about her experience on the show on her Instagram stories on Aug. 7.
She said after the show, she had a continuous feeling of being trapped in a space and had “weird dreams.” Having her husband on the show also had its ups and downs.
“You are always kind of worried about them and have to go through that,” she said.
One person asked her what injuries she and Andrew sustained.
She said, “besides getting my face beat in with a fist…maybe some cracked ribs and a concussion. And maybe a cracked nose…just little things.”
The lower bridge of Shawn’s nose is slightly red in her story’s video.
In a YouTube video on Aug. 7, Shawn said she got asked to be in the show in its first season.
“But I was postpartum. I’m pretty sure and every season since I’ve either been pregnant or postpartum…So they asked me this season…and then they asked Andrew,” she shared.
The couple almost said no to the show after they talked to friends who said the series is more intense and hard than it even shows on TV.
It “turned out to be correct,” Shawn said.
“One of my favorite things about the show is they strip you down to nothing. You’re wearing the same exact thing. You’re not allowed makeup. You’re not allowed anything that uniquely makes you your own,” she said.
This helped Shawn get to know the other celebrities better — and not as who the world makes them out to be.
“You’re getting put in very vulnerable positions and you get to see who they truly are in like the most beautiful or ugly light because you see them super scared, super fearful… being forced to be a leader or follower… so you get to see them at a level you no longer see with social media,” she said.
The series will air on Sept. 25 on Fox with an episode at 9 p.m. ET every Thursday.
