Take heart, parents, nursery rhymes and children’s music will no longer bother you during a relaxing drive alone. Spotify has fixed a long-running problem of combining listening experiences.

The new solution is called “managed accounts.” This feature lets kids have their own space to explore music, while built-in safety features let parents maintain control. For families sharing a Premium Family plan, a child’s listening won’t affect the parent’s recommendation algorithm or distort the parent’s personalized music results.

A press release from Spotify reads, “Each managed account comes with its own experience, so it’s a much-requested win for parents, who won’t have to worry about their Wrapped results getting hijacked. And for young listeners, it means their favorites stay their own, too.”

The release notes that “Managed accounts provide a music-only listening experience that Family Plan managers can control via their settings in several ways. These currently include: the Explicit Content Filter, the ability to control and restrict the playback of specific artists and songs, and a toggle to hide video and Canvas (short looping videos accompanying songs).

Interactivity features are also limited on managed accounts, with no access to age-gated features like Messages.”

The new launch will only take place in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia already have similar options.

In addition to the new managed accounts option, Spotify recently launched the new “lossless” sound option which can be turned on for enhanced sound quality.

On the heels of these new upgrades, Spotify prices are expected to rise soon, although nothing has been confirmed yet. Billboard reported that “Morgan Stanley analysts pointed to Spotify’s price increases in Australia in September as “’the beginning of a pricing cycle in ’26’ and a move that ‘creates a template’ for pricing in other markets in which Spotify bundles music and audiobooks. The price increase in Australia amounted to 14% for individual plans and 17% for multi-person family plans.”

Currently, Spotify offers a $11.99/month individual plan, a $5.99/month student plan, a $16.99/month duo plan (two users account), and a $19.99/month family plan.

If you’re interested in creating a managed account, you can click on your profile picture at the top of your profile, tap ‘Settings and Privacy Settings,’ then tap ‘Account’ and ‘Premium Family.’ Here, you can select which users to add to the managed account.
