THE CHOSEN Season 5 Will Release …
By Movieguide® Contributor
Dallas Jenkins just announced THE CHOSEN Season 5 release window!
The biblical drama will continue to unfold in “early” April 2025, Jenkins shared in a Facebook Live on Monday.
“Drum roll,” he said, “I’m sure we’re all very excited…We are happy to tell you that it is coming to theaters…to you early April 2025,” he said.
“I don’t know exactly if it’s the first or second week just yet; we’re working out those details,” he added. “It will be early April, so mark your calendars for that time. We are going to give you the opportunity to watch it all at once, or you can watch it in parts.”
He confirmed that the series will run through Easter.
“If Season 5 of THE CHOSEN follows the same release strategy as Season 4 (prior to the delay), new episodes could begin streaming a few weeks after their theatrical run concludes,” The Direct speculated, adding that the season could land on THE CHOSEN’s free streaming app as early as May or June 2025.
Season 5 will dive into Holy Week, the week leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion.
“Despite the short time frame, the season has a lot to cover, from the Roman authorities’ final decision to crucify Jesus to his followers’ reactions to the events of the week,” Collider said. “There will surely be some powerful sermon monologues from Jesus. Jenkins promised that there would be some mic-drop moments, as well as a more private exploration of his acceptance of his fate.”
Jenkins told CNA that Season 5 will be “sad at times.”
“It’s actually heartbreaking at times because we know we’re getting closer and closer to the cross,” he added. “We’re going to get to see some iconic moments from Scripture, but we’re also going to, I believe, be drawn closer to who Jesus was because of his suffering.”
