TobyMac shared his shock that his and Mandisa’s song “Good Morning” woke up the Artemis II astronauts on day six of their journey to the moon.
“Wow, what an honor for me and my friend @mandisaofficial…I know she’s smiling up there right now!” TobyMac wrote on Instagram.

“It’s a good morning / Wake up to a brand new day / This morning / I’m step-steppin’ / Steppin’ on my way / Good morning / You give me strength, You give me just what I need / And I can feel the hope that’s risin’ in me / It’s a good morning,” the chorus of the song goes.
TobyMac and Mandisa are not the only Christian artists who have had the honor of playing a part in the Artemis II mission. Christian county music artist Anne Wilson sang the national anthem at NASA last week before the launch of the crew.
“What an incredible honor it was to sing the National Anthem at the Artemis II launch!!! This moment feels so full circle for me,” Wilson wrote after the performance. “There was a time in my life when I dreamed of becoming an astronaut and working for @NASA.”
“After walking through deep loss in my family, my path changed in ways I never expected. And yet, standing here now, getting to be a small part of something so historic, I’m just overwhelmed by God’s goodness. He writes stories far greater than we could ever imagine, and I’m so grateful to be living in His 🥹🤍🚀🌙”
The Artemis II mission is the US’ first manned mission to the moon since the Apollo program ended with Apollo 17 in 1972. While Artemis II will not bring its astronauts to the surface of the moon, they completed an orbit around the moon on April 6 and are now on their way back towards earth. The crew is expected to enter earth’s orbit on April 11 to complete their 10 day mission.
The current mission is one step in returning to the moon with plans to land sometime in 2028 when Artemis IV launches. While this short-term plan is exciting, where it may lead is even more so as NASA hopes the Artemis program can kickstart a moon colony and eventually result in a mission that sends humans to Mars.
While science and faith are often seen to be at odds, it is encouraging to see how faith has been a part of the Artemis II mission as the astronauts onboard recognize that everything they are experiencing was made by God and points to His greatness.
