Former NFL Star Reminds Us to Find Our Courage in God

Tim Tebow explained why Christ’s sacrifice on the cross gives Christians an unshakeable confidence.
“There will never be a day when you wake up when your sin, when my sin, when my screwups overcome what the cross has done for me,” Tebow said. “There will never be a day where our sin is like, ‘Oh, guess what? God, I got you.’”
“No. Our God is such a big, vast, loving, marvelous, creator God that loves us so much that went to the cross, and He’s telling us, ‘Listen, you can look at the whole world but in me you’re gonna have peace. And I know it’s gonna get hard but guess what? You can choose courage anyway.’ Because you know what happened and the results of which will never change.”
Tebow has long reminded his fans of the victory we have in Christ. This security and foundation that he has in his faith has made Tebow unshakable and allows him to deal with all the major disappointments that come his way.
“You’ll never silence the critics,” he said. “There will always be people in your life who will underestimate your potential, say that you’ll never reach your dream or make that goal, or try to hold you back in some way. What God knows about us is more important than what others think.”

For Tebow, there was no bigger disappointment than when he got cut from football, ending his NFL dream. However, in the 11 years since, he has built an amazing ministry through which he serves the most vulnerable people on the planet. He knows that if he had stayed in the NFL, this would never have happened. Thus, God used his greatest disappointment to foster Tebow’s greatest gift.
