Former NFL tight end Vernon Davis takes his competitive edge to a whole new word on HGTV’s ROCK THE BLOCK.

“A lot of people don’t know, but I started out renovating and flipping homes and renting homes out back in 2014,” Davis told Moveiguide® about his experience with home renovations. “So that was, it’s like a familiar space to me, but it also presented a challenge to me because I’ve never really been that hands-on before. It’s little things. I can always assess and assign someone to the project and kind of guide them and tell them what I’m looking for, but never really get my hands dirty.”

HGTV’s hit design series sees “some of HGTV’s biggest stars pair up with celebrities who share their passion for home renovation and design,” per TV Insider. It’s hosted by Ty Pennington.

Davis thinks people enjoy the show because of how it inspires them.

“Well, I think a lot of people love that space when it comes to renovation and design, and if you can imagine just sitting there wishing that your house could look like this, or maybe taking ideas from some of the things that you’re seeing and applying it to your home currently, and I think that’s the fascination behind it,” he explained. “Like, I get a chance to be inspired. So I think it’s pretty fascinating, something that’s very fascinating to the general public, the people who may be interested in this world or may not be.”

ROCK THE BLOCK Season 7 debuts on HGTV tonight at 8/7c. Davis will be paired with HGTV’s GOOD BONES star Mina Starsiak Hawk.

“Host of HGTV’s GOOD BONES and a real estate agent, Mina knows a thing or two about making a house a home. She also knows how to sell one — two skills critical to taking home a ROCK THE BLOCK win. She’s also no stranger to the game, having competed in the very first season of the show. As a former pro football player, Vernon brings a healthy competitive drive to the duo that may just take them across the finish line,” HGTV shared of Hawk’s background.

Other teams include RENOVATION RESORT SHOWDOWN’s Scott McGillivray with singer, TV personality and design firm owner Brooke Hogan; BATTLE OF THE BEACH’s Taniya Nayak with singer, actor and TV star Drew Lachey; and WHY THE HECK DID I BUY THIS HOUSE? host Kim Wolfe with SURVIVOR alum and Bravo star Chelsea Meissner.

This season takes teams to Las Vegas, and “in classic Sin City style, they’re all one-level and feature private courtyards, multi-generational suites and RV garages. The team who earns the highest appraised property value post reno will hit the jackpot, winning ROCK THE BLOCK bragging rights and a street named in their honor,” HGTV reported.

Davis’ background in real estate and passion for design plus his pro athlete career will certainly give him a competitive edge.
