Why Family Is Everything to Bruce Willis
By Movieguide® Contributor
Bruce Willis has always been a family man, prioritizing his wife and kids even at the height of his career; now that he is battling dementia, this quality has become even more important.
For years, Willis took care of his family. He has five kids total: three daughters with his ex-wife Demi Moore and two more with his current spouse Emma Heming Willis.
“I’ve learned that my life revolves around my family and friends,” Willis said in a 2013 interview. “When I’m not working, my days are devoted to the women in my life. I don’t need anything more than that.”
“Over the years I learned from my daughters how it was more important to listen than to speak,” he added. “I’ve discovered through experience that I should hold back sometimes and be more reflective and save myself a lot of aggravation. You learn more by listening and observing.”
Now, after years of caring for his family, Willis is the one receiving care. In 2022, Heming Willis revealed that the legendary actor is suffering from dementia. Though he has good days and bad days, the women in his life still love him very much and are committed to caring for him to the end.

“Dementia is hard,” Heming Willis told the TODAY show in 2023. “It’s hard on the person diagnosed, it’s also hard on the family. And that is no different for Bruce, or myself, or our girls. When they say this is a family disease, it really is.”
“He is the same, which I think in this regard I’ve learned is the best thing you can ask for,” added Willis’ daughter Tallulah. “I see love when I’m with him, and it’s my dad and he loves me, which is really special.”
