Showrunner Steven D. Binder teased the possibility of TONY & ZIVA having a crossover with the main NCIS show but warned that nothing is guaranteed.
“I am speaking without authority to speak for the studio and network, how they would feel about [a crossover], but they tend to be very pro-crossover stuff,” Binder told TV Insider. “So now that we actually have some stuff in the can, we definitely want to take a look at that.”
“It’d be fun, it’d be good for them, I’m sure fun for the audiences. There’s no reason to not do it unless there’s a reason to not do it that I’m not aware of,” he continued. “But like I said, I’m just speaking for me as a writer of this show…But I will tell you, I talk to Michael [Weatherly] a lot. We’ve talked about TONY & ZIVA over the years a lot, and I can tell you all the pieces are in play for something like that to happen.”
While Binder is very excited about the idea of a crossover, he warned that one condition that may prove too difficult to overcome is the fact that TONY & ZIVA is streaming while NCIS is on network television. This means they operate on different schedules, which may become too large of a hassle to work out.
“I can tell you because of the timeline — we are on a network production schedule and they are on a streaming much longer term…” he explained. “[But] I would love to. I think that would be great.”

This is exciting news for fans of the series as they are always clamoring for beloved characters to come back. A crossover would also allow the show to highlight how Tony and Ziva have changed over the years by having older characters weigh in on their transformations. These changes are set to be at the center of the show, as the characters focus on parenthood and place the wellbeing of their daughter above all else.
“Every choice that Tony and Ziva have to make in their adventure, their child is first and foremost in the front of their mind,” Michael Weatherly explained. “When we were on the NCIS the mothership, we didn’t have children.”
At the same time, they will also be navigating their own relationship with each other after living apart for many years.
“We’re trying to address all of these questions, and the idea of trust, and how they move forward…they’re trying to make things work while also parenting and having a lot of challenges thrown at them,” Cote de Pablo said.
NCIS: TONY & ZIVA wrapped filming and is set to debut on Paramount+ this fall.
