Worship leader Josh Baldwin recently shared the effects music has had on his life, from his hit single “Made For More” to his experiences singing with his church’s worship team.
“I was a worship leader and pastor for years. That was my whole life,” he said during an episode of “The Matthew West Podcast.”
When he and his family began going to a new church, Baldwin decided to step back and not take part in leading worship.
“It was good for me to just go to church and be at church with my family, and then I started to feel like…I would be even more connected to my church [by leading],” Baldwin explained but added, “[Then] I was like, ‘Actually, I need to get involved.’”

It’s not surprising Baldwin would feel called to be part of his church’s music team — the artist has been making music professionally since 2014 when he joined Bethel Music. His 2023 single “Made For More” has even gone viral on social media.
“I wrote that song, like, four years ago…we sat on it,” he shared. “I like that, though. It tells me that they’re timeless.”
Baldwin added that he loves seeing the ways people have used the music in videos about their own lives, saying, “It’s just the message of the song getting out over top of the things that the Lord’s done in their life, and I think that’s pretty amazing, pretty special.”
In a statement given to CCM Magazine, he elaborated on the subject, saying, “It’s been so special for me to watch people connect with this song. Going on the road and hearing people declare these lyrics of identity and purpose over their lives has given me a fresh perspective of the impact songs can have on us.”
The singer-songwriter also spoke about the spiritual revolution he’s been seeing across the country.
“People are hungry [for spiritual awakening] and you can feel it,” Baldwin said. “You can feel just the push of people going after the Lord, and I think the thing is…they’re not ashamed. They’re not ashamed to show that, ‘Hey, I found Jesus and it’s changed my life.’…it’s very encouraging.”
Baldwin recently spoke to Relevant Magazine about his most recent musical project, an EP titled Full Grown Man, Vol. 1.
“This one’s a passion project,” he shared. “But honestly, it’s meant as much — or maybe more — to me than anything I’ve done.”
Baldwin explained that, while the songs are about his faith, they “aren’t necessarily for Sunday morning,” adding, “These songs remind me of who Jesus is. Not just the miracles, not just the divinity — but the humanity. And I think we need both.”
Whether it’s in church on Sunday or through his chart-topping music, Baldwin is focused on sharing his faith through songs.
