Zach Bryan Offers ‘Honest Prayers’ for Those Affected by Nebraska Tornado

Country crooner Zach Bryan is praying for those in Nebraska who experienced devastating tornado damage last week.

“As an American and someone who lived in Omaha for some pretty formidable years of my life, I want to offer some honest prayers and hopes to the communities affected by the tornadoes that tore through them,” Bryan said on Saturday. “The band and I are standing with you guys as we are playing some shows in Omaha. I am so sorry to anyone that is having to deal with picking up the pieces of their homes and their lives.”

“The tornado damage started Friday afternoon near Lincoln, Nebraska,” AP News reported. “An industrial building in Lancaster County was hit, causing it to collapse with 70 people inside. Several were trapped, but everyone was evacuated, and the three injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.”

The tornado ripped through Omaha suburb city, Elkhorn, where it tore up several neighborhoods and four hangers that housed 32 planes. After Elkhorn, it moved to Minden and destroyed over forty homes there.

“Without taking credit from the thousands of people lending a hand who have roots here, we love you so much and we’ll do all we can to help,” Bryan said in his Instagram post.

Bryan visited Elkhorn to help clean up the damage.

“How cool is it that he would just show up and start working?” one resident told the Omaha World-Herald. “He was just out there among the people without any fanfare. As the mother of two teenagers, that’s the kind of celebrity I want my kids to follow.”

Bryan and his band performed at Omaha’s Chi Health Center on April 29 and 30.

He posted a clip of his performance on his Instagram story Wednesday and said, “THANK YOU OMAHA FOR TWO NIGHTS, BE BACK SOON.”

Last year, Movieguide® reported on HGTV star Erin Napier’s tornado experience:

“Helen was almost two, and the tornado siren started going off. We knew bad weather was coming,” Napier said during an appearance on Southern Living’s “Biscuits and Jam” podcast. “I said we’ll go get in the closet under the stairs, and as soon as we got in and closed the door we could feel the house move. It felt alive in a way that really scared me.”

She recalled hearing the house “creak and pop” but knew it was “sturdy” against the storm…

“We didn’t have power and the front windows in our living room had been busted out by debris,” she shared. “The Christmas tree was a mess. The ornaments — a lot of them got broken — and Helen was like, ‘What happened?’ She wasn’t exactly scared but she knew something serious had happened.”
