The messages are clear: this guy’s brain is fried because his mother abandoned him to this electronic baby-sitter; and, (2) stopping the cable feed will return sanity to the world. In a way, THE CABLE GUY is probably the most biting satire so far of television. Jim Carrey will do anything to be funny, which, in this movie, boils down to extreme obscenity and embarrassment. Even so, Steven learns through the cable guy how to stand up for himself, for the love in his life and for morality. Perhaps, just as the final battle knocks out the satellite feed, maybe the best thing for us is to avoid THE CABLE GUY and spend an evening with our family and friends.
