CRY OF THE CRICKET is a video movie that centers around the life of a boy, Tuck, his cricket friend, Woody, and how their lives are changed with the sudden, unwelcome arrival of a strange girl, Avy, into their barn hideaway. Tuck tries to get rid of this unwanted guest, but in doing so unwittingly becomes her friend. Avy meets his need for friendship, and he fulfills her desire and longing for attention and companionship, which originally caused her to leave home. In the end, this tale of singing crickets and new-found friendship is mirrored with the happiness and freedom Tuck feels.

This award-winning short movie is presented by Regent University, which has a remarkable reputation for turning out wonderful films and filmmakers. CRY OF THE CRICKET is a wonderful tale of the beginnings of a relationship which transforms into friendship. Also, there are other levels on which the story takes place. The running tale about crickets and why they sing or do not sing is a clever twist. One important idea is that you never know what is going to happen in life. Kim Harris and Joe Lyons give marvelous performances against the beautiful backdrop of the countryside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The cinematography and setting are absolutely gorgeous. This touching and warm story of relationships is a a treat for the whole family.
