More Detail:

GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS is a fun holiday movie on Great American Family that follows Alexa PenaVega’s character, Bella, as she works to win back the love of her ex-boyfriend, Sage. To do this, she teams up with her childhood best friend, Jack, to write a song proving she’s worthy of Sage’s love.

Sage is an international superstar who brings Bella instant fame when they sing two songs together before starting to date. Though their relationship has been going strong for four months and has been the talk of the world, Sage decides they should take a break and cancel their plans to spend Christmas together. Bella is devastated. However, she hopes it’s only a break, not a breakup, and returns to Dallas, her hometown, for Christmas.

Bella has become a world-famous singer since she left her hometown eight years ago. However, her childhood best friend, Jack, has never left Dallas and is a manager at a Salvation Army store. Though he enjoys serving others in his position, his passion is songwriting. Also, he’s working to get a budding music school off the ground that helps children with special needs.

Bella and Jack quickly reunite when Bella returns home. She asks Jack to help her write a song to win back Sage. Jack is hesitant at first but eventually agrees to help when Bella promises to perform at his Jingle Jam concert, which is a fundraiser for his music school. As they start writing the song, however, Bella finds the process more challenging than she thought, because Jack can’t write the song for her. He can only guide her in the songwriting process. Otherwise, the words won’t hold any true meaning.

As the pair continues working together, they reminisce on old times and recall how things used to be. They also begin to spend a lot of time together, with Bella coming to Jack’s work every day asking for advice on writing the song.

As the days pass, they make good progress. However, before they finish the song, Bella’s agent books her to perform the song on the Christmas episode of Access Hollywood. This gives them very little time to finish the song. Unfortunately, the filming date of the Access Hollywood episode conflicts with Jack’s Jingle Jam concert, leaving Bella in a bind. Nonetheless, the pair  perseveres and finishes the song so that Bella has a complete version to perform.

Their story takes some unexpected, surprising twists that end with a lovely resolution.

GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS is a solid holiday movie with something for everybody. The story is genuinely entertaining and well put together, featuring enjoyable characters without feeling cliché. The writing is really good, the songs are excellently performed, and the story has some nice twists.

GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS also promotes strong Christian, biblical values. It stresses family, sacrifice, forgiveness, generosity, compassion, and hard work. Though Jack’s in love with Bella, he spends the entire movie helping her write a song to win over another guy because he promised to help her. Jack also shares that the reason he stayed in Dallas rather than leaving for college is because he felt convicted to take care of his family after his father died from cancer. Furthermore, Bella learns to value genuine relationships in her life rather than those that will promote her to greater levels of fame. Finally, GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS features a short rendition of “God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen.”
