HOUSE OF DAVID on Prime Video tells the story of David’s rise, going from shepherd to King of Israel. In Episode 107, David prepares for his epic battle with the giant Goliath, but his father, Jesse tries to keep him away from the battle.
The episode opens with Jesse sending his sons into battle – all except David, who begs to be allowed to fight the Philistines. Elsewhere, King Saul prepares for war, as the Philistines gather their troops.
On the day that they plant their flags and officially declare war, the Philistines reveal their secret weapon. The giant Goliath appears and challenges Saul to come and fight him, one on one. Saul has a vision of Goliath crushing a skull in his hands and falls to the ground. He is incoherent and barely conscious, but as he is led to his tent, Saul tells his army to find someone willing to fight Goliath.
Meanwhile, the Prophet Samuel visits David and Jesse. David shares a vision he’s been having. He’s standing on the shore of a small river in a beautiful valley and faces a formidable guard in the idle of the river. Samuel tells David that Joshua had the same vision before the Battle of Jericho, and counsels David to ask the guard what God wills of him the next time he has the vision.
Samuel also speaks to Jesse and asks him why he won’t allow David to fight in the war against the Philistines. Jesse says he is protecting David, but Samuel tells him he’s standing in the way of God’s will.
Back on the battlefield, Jonathan, Saul’s son, is advised to strike at night with a team of mercenaries and assassins that have been gathered. He’s reluctant but ultimately agrees. When he tells a near-catatonic Saul what he plans to do, Saul has a vision of how the confrontation will go and tries to tell Jonathan not to go, but Jonathan can’t hear him.
Meanwhile, David has another vision of the stream. He asks the guard what God would have him do. The guard points to the stream, and David picks up a bloody stone. When the vision ends and he goes home, he sees Jesse packing up a donkey – he’s sending David off to war.
