More Detail:
ASSASSINATION NATION is the story of four teenage girls in a town called Salem who find their obscene selfie photos hacked and shared with their town, which leads to brutal, ultraviolent consequences from all sides. ASSASSINATION NATION is obnoxious, ultraviolent, lewd leftist propaganda and has a strong pagan worldview with very strong politically correct, Anti-Christian, pro-homosexual elements.
The movie opens on a long montage of teenagers partying under some profane narration by lead character Lily (Odessa Young), but all the bacchanalia doesn’t seem to make any of the teenagers happy in any way. Rather, the movie at times seems to be admitting there’s a problem in today’s society among teenager who are barely supervised and are raised with no sense of values.
Yet, Writer/Director Steve Levinson dives in anyway, following what happens in the town and particularly among Lily and her three best friends Sara (Suki Waterhouse), Em (Abra), and Bex (Hari Nef), a transgender boy pretending to be a girl. A hacker finds and releases an embarrassing secret stash of personal photos from the town mayor where he cross-dresses and engages in deviant sexual behavior. At first, all the youth in the high school laugh and gossip about the release, but when the mayor shoots himself dead in front of a town hall meeting and the footage goes viral, it’s clear that things are truly sick in Salem. Meanwhile, Lily is afraid that scandalous footage of her is next to be released.
Lily’s worst nightmares come true as hundreds of racy photos she sent to a neighboring married father (Joel McHale) are leaked, ruining both his life and hers. Soon, everyone in town is assuming the worst of everyone else. Mob justice explodes as Lily is labeled a “whore”, and all types of creeps come looking for her and her friends. This inspires Lily and her three friends to grab some weapons and fight back.
ASSASSINATION NATION tries to have it both ways with this extremely dark and intense material. Thus, some of the time it shows the girls realizing the consequences of their actions and wild lifestyle, but other times it plays the whole situation for laughs. In the movie’s final stretch, though, the movie makes it clear both through their own mob resistance to the hordes of people coming after them and an over the top politically correct lecture by Lily, that the movie is completely taking their side and attacking most men and anyone who harbors conservative or religious moral values. The movie closes with Lily’s politically correct rant about how girls are given confused signals about how to behave, and the solution is to declare no shame for anything and attempt violent overthrow of society.
Thus, ASSASSINATION NATION is incredibly obnoxious propaganda for the left, on top of the movie’s nonstop unpleasant violence, which includes graphic shootings, stabbings, an attempted lynching, punching, kicking, throat-cutting, and an extended rape sequence where the male attacker threatens Lily with a large knife. Buckets of blood abound throughout the movie’s abhorrent second half.
The movie is also packed with nonstop foul language and tons of underage alcohol and marijuana use on top of a completely nihilistic, pagan worldview. So much so that ASSASSINATION NATION seems to be actively trying to poison the minds of young people in society.
Finally, the entire movie has an ugly Anti-Christian, Anti-American, anti-male feminist tone, in addition to repeatedly saying that moral conservatives are “always” hypocrites who get caught doing homosexual behaviors and other sexual scandals. The police chief is a hateful monster who encourages a mob to find and kill Lily. He slams her friends into his car hood and into his back seat cruelly, as the movie shows utter disrespect for police. The teenagers have no moral sense whatsoever, something that the director occasionally seems to convey subtly, but by the end, after sometimes seeming to comment on the girls’ causing their own problem with their sexual photos and lack of shame,
