What You Need To Know:
DELIVER US FROM EVIL is an extremely scary, but very suspenseful, well-acted horror movie. It has a strong Christian worldview. The hero goes from having no faith to believing and serving God. He also asks for forgiveness and confesses his sins. The priest is a good representation of Grace. He also gives a great argument for God. The hero’s wife is a Christian throughout. Despite this, the hero uses Jesus as a curse word several many times. This is offensive but also illogical, since it’s the name of Jesus that stops the demonic forces. DELIVER US FROM EVIL contains a lot of scary, sometimes very gruesome, bloody violence. So, extreme caution is advised.

Allegedly based on true events, DELIVER US FROM EVIL is about a New York police officer, who must renew his Christian faith in order to battle a satanic cult leader engaged in demon possession. DELIVER US FROM EVIL is an extremely scary, suspenseful horror movie with a strong Christian worldview where God is ultimately victorious.
NYPD officer Ralph Sarchie and his partner, Butler, go to investigate a call of a man beating his wife. When they open the door, they find the women bruised, and the man’s fingers bloody. The man runs, but the two are able to stop him and take him in to jail.
Not long after, the two men are sent to the zoo to find a woman has killed her baby. Almost right after the women threw her baby, killing it, the power at the zoo went out. When Sarchie and Butler arrive at the zoo, the lights are out, and the woman is sitting in front of the lion’s den. A man appears in the lion’s den, and Sarchie tries to find out more. Before Sarchie can do much, however, the lion tries to attack him.
Returning to the station, Sarchie is approached by a Jesuit Priest named Mendoza. At first Sarchie doesn’t think Mendoza is a priest, because he wears jeans and a leather jacket. Mendoza tells Sarchie the woman, Claudia, is his friend and has been possessed by a demon. Sarchie doesn’t believe Mendoza, saying he gave up God a long time ago.
Sarchie starts to hear voices and see unexplainable things, so he asks Mendoza to help explain. Mendoza explains that Sarchie has the ability to see demons and the supernatural, and, if Sarchie confesses his sins and asks for forgiveness, then he will be protected by God. Still, Sarchie does not fully believe.
Sarchie goes back to the home of the woman beaten by her husband. The woman tells Sarchie that their offices were being painted by the same man that at the Zoo, a guy named Santino. Looking around, Sarchie discovers a satanic script that has been written in the wall. He also discovers a video showing Santino, the woman’s husband, and one other man in Iraq. The video shows the men going into a tomb, seeing the satanic script on the wall, and becoming possessed. This possessed man is Santino, who’s trying to start a satanic cult. Sarchie must find Santino and stop him.
DELIVER US FROM EVIL is a very scary horror movie, meaning it serves its purpose. The suspense is very well done. Also, the pacing is good and the storyline is different then most horror movies. The acting is well done. Overall, the movie is very well made.
DELIVER US FROM EVIL has a strong Christian worldview. The main character, Sarchie, goes from having no faith to believing and serving God. Sarchie asks for forgiveness and confesses his sins. The priest is a good representation of Grace. He also gives a great argument for God. Sarchie’s wife is a Christian throughout and is seen in white as a pure character.
Though this is the case, the main character uses Jesus as a curse word several times. This is offensive but also illogical to the movie since, ultimately, Jesus’ name is what stops the demons. There is power in the name of Jesus. Also, DELIVER US FROM EVIL has a lot of blood and other grotesque things, including a possessed woman who eats a man. So, extreme caution is advised.
