More Detail:

DOLPHIN ISLAND is a delightful family movie on various streaming platforms and VOD. It tells the story of a 14-year-old girl named Annabel who lives on a tropical island with her grandfather, Jonah. Annabel enjoys her time on the island and looks after the marine conservation center her late parents owned. When Annabel’s wealthy grandparents from New York show up on the island seeking custody from Jonah, Annabel is at risk of losing her island paradise. DOLPHIN ISLAND contains some minor violence but provides a comical, heartfelt story about family, friendship and faith.

DOLPHIN ISLAND starts out showing Annabel and her grandfather, Jonah, returning to the marine conservation center on a boat. Although Annabel and her grandfather live a humble life on the boat, they couldn’t want anything more than they already have. Their bond is unbreakable, and Annabel loves being raised at the marine center her deceased parents founded. Annabel also loves the dolphins that play nearby, especially a dolphin she’s named Mitzy.

One day Annabel is walking through town, and an older man begins following her. She confronts him, and he introduces himself as her grandparents’ lawyer. He hands her a note stating that her grandparents would like to meet with her, because the last time they saw her was 10 years ago. Little does she know that their true intentions are to gain custody of Annabel and move her to New York.

A representative from social services named Desaray arrives at the boat where Jonah lives and observes the living conditions. She fills out a report recommending that Annabel should live with her other grandparents instead. Things take a turn when Annabel befriends a boy her age on the island, Mateo, and invites him to swim at the center. He agrees only if he can take his mother. His mother happens to be Desaray, who’s shocked that she’s encountering Jonah again.

Desaray reevaluates her original report about Annabel when she realizes that Jonah is a good parent figure. During the custody hearing, Annabel’s grandparents from New York gain custody from Jonah. Annabel is heartbroken and runs away before she has to move from the island. She steals a boat from the center, but it’s old and rundown. Annabel’s friends and family realize she’s missing and search for her.

The beautiful scenery of the ocean and marine wildlife in DOLPHIN ISLAND make viewers feel like they’re on vacation! Also, the cast is great. The actors and the cute dolphins all contribute to an exciting, delightful movie. The villain lawyer does a great job in offering comic relief, Annabel radiates positivity and adventure, and Jonah is a loving father figure on the island. The characters in DOLPHIN ISLAND are likeable and make the movie even better.

DOLPHIN ISLAND is exciting and heartfelt. The importance of family and friendship are present throughout the movie. There are also Christian elements such as prayer and symbols of the cross, as Annabel’s grandmother prays for her safety and gifts her a cross necklace. Some scenes contain slapstick violence such as when the villain gets hit with a wooden paddle, while another scene depicts two adults getting into a fight. The movie has some light miscellaneous immorality such as lying and pickpocketing, but the movie’s family-oriented, redemptive message still remains. There’s only one light exclamatory profanity. Families and children of all ages will enjoy DOLPHIN ISLAND’s positive messages and fun storyline.
