SOPHIE SCHOLL – THE FINAL DAYS

What You Need To Know:

In the German movie SOPHIE SCHOLL – THE FINAL DAYS, Sophie and her brother, Hans, are part of a small group of Christians who are trying to instigate a student uprising to overthrow Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist government in 1943. Calling themselves the White Rose, they do this by printing and dispersing leaflets. They are caught by the Gestapo. At first, Sophie denies everything. When she realizes the investigator knows the facts, she challenges him with a very strong evangelistic, Christian, Trinitarian refutation of the Nazi position. She even confronts the trial judge.

The movie SOPHIE SCHOLL has won several awards and is up for an Oscar®. It is overtly Christian, but, more than that, like the movie THE NINTH DAY, it contains tremendous Christian theology as Sophie confronts National Socialism. She even discusses different worldviews. Although their White Rose movement was crushed, it sewed the seeds for eventual victory. The script was adapted from transcripts of the court case, so the dialogue is very authentic. The reason that the movie has gotten so many awards and rave reviews is that it is so well produced. Every element rings true in this must-see movie
