More Detail:
In Episode One, the ponies are traveling to the Isle of Scaly, where the dragons live. They want to warn the dragons about Opaline, an alicorn who’s working to steal all the ponies’ and dragons’ magic and use it to take control. They crash-land on the island and meet with the dragons, who are initially skeptical about partnering with the ponies. However, after talking with their leader, Spike, and hearing an impassioned speech about the power of hope from Sunny, the group agrees to work together and take on Opaline.
Episode Two begins with the ponies and dragons traveling to one of the pony lands, just in time to see Opaline begin stealing the pony’s magical “cutie marks.” She escapes before they can fight her. The dragons begin to feel weak and figure out that Opaline has the Dragon Stone, which she can use to control them.
While the ponies rally together to protect each other and the remaining magic, the dragons travel to Opaline’s castle, where she traps and hypnotizes them. Opaline returns to the ponies’ land and steals almost all of the rest of the cutie marks. That leaves just four more marks for Opaline to take.
In Episode Three, Opaline and the hypnotized dragons try to break the ponies’ protection spell, which would allow her to take the unity crystals that protect their magic. She continues to move back and forth through the pony kingdoms, using portals that are connected by the unity trees containing the ponies’ magic.
Opaline steals all the cutie marks but Sunny’s. However, the ponies band together at each unity tree and sing, strengthening their bonds, even without magic. Sunny goes to Opaline’s castle, where they fight, and Opaline takes her mark. However, the ponies’ singing creates magic that traps Opaline and breaks her hypnotic spell over the dragons. They defeat her and restore magic and unity.
