Like a detective story, the program investigates the almost holographic image on the Shroud to refute the critics of the authenticity and to reveal an incredible three-dimensional image of the face on the Shroud, including lifelike eyes. Watching this program, it would be almost impossible to think this is not the burial shroud of Jesus Christ. THE REAL FACE OF JESUS? upholds the belief that Jesus Christ died and was raised from the dead. The special touches touch base with the critics of the Shroud, but the focus is on the fact that Christ was both fully God and fully man.

THE REAL FACE OF JESUS? is an incredibly powerful story about a digital forensic animation team trying to digitally reconstruct the image of Jesus by using the digital information encoded in the Shroud of Turin.
This documentary follows the computer graphics team of Ray Downing as they try to reconstruct the face of Jesus Christ by examining the Shroud of Turin and using CGI processes to bring the image to life. In addition to following the team trying to put together an actual picture of Christ, the documentary delves into some of the most prominent questions that surround the Shroud of Turin. The filmmakers also detail the fascinating process they used to create the three-dimensional image of Jesus from the Shroud.
This is arguably the most interesting and advanced Shroud of Turin program. Like a detective story, the program carefully investigates the almost holographic image on the Shroud to first refute the critics of the authenticity and then to reveal an incredible three-dimensional image of the man on the Shroud, including lifelike eyes. Watching this program, it would be very difficult or almost impossible to think that this is not the Shroud of Jesus Christ. THE REAL FACE OF JESUS? affirms the resurrection, affirms the humanity of Jesus and affirms the divinity of Jesus.
Of course, as a History Channel documentary, it tries to add a little bit of counter-balance by talking about the critics of the Shroud, talking about the Gnostic gospels and even mentioning psychic phenomenon. These points, though, are very, very minor. The whole purpose is to show that Jesus Christ is fully man and fully God.
