KILL LIST

What You Need To Know:

KILL LIST has nothing but bleakness to offer. It’s a vile and repellent British horror movie with a very strong occult worldview. In the story, a former hit man takes one more job after his wife nags him in front of their children. The man slowly loses his sense of restraint and conscience. He beats many of his victims viciously before killing them. He and his partner decide to turn the tables on their bosses, who lead a Satanic cult. They open fire on the cult, but the partner gets mortally wounded. Eventually, the Satanists catch the remaining hitman. They force him to fight a masked opponent, who turns out to be his wife.

KILL LIST builds its sinister momentum well, centered on a strong performance by the lead actor. But, it is so unrelentingly bleak in its worldview and its occult journey that it winds up celebrating the murder and mayhem it depicts. KILL LIST not only has extremely graphic torture scenes, it also has abundant, extreme foul language. KILL LIST is a thoroughly abhorrent, despicable movie full of Satanic evil. It’s one of the most violent movies ever made.

Content:

(OOO, ABABAB, LLL, VVV, S, NN, AA, D, MMM) Very strong occult, Anti-Christian worldview about two unemployed and broke hit men who take one last job under pressure from their wives, only to get caught up in a satanic cult; at least 90 obscenities (including variations of the “f” word that are used nearly 75 times and at least two times in scenes with child actors present when two parents scream at and hit each other with their child watching) and 20 profanities; almost constant, sick extreme violence such as shooting a priest in the back of the head (they also speculate on the various forms of abuse the priest likely engaged in to “deserve” being murdered), multiple scenes of torture tied in with killing, images of a hammer graphically used to break an old man’s hands and knees before ripping holes in his skull, another man gets his head bashed into a wall repeatedly before he’s shot dead and covered with blood, pummeled corpses left lying on the floor, and ultimately a showdown at a Satanic ritual in which the hitmen try to save a woman from hanging herself in a sacrifice by opening gunfire on dozens of watching fellow cult members, a “mercy” killing occurs when one of the two hitmen is shot, and man forced to fight a masked person with sharp objects and discovers he’s stabbed his wife to death, men forced to have their palms sliced open to sign their contracts in blood and one man’s palm becomes severely infected; naked people in one scene implies orgies occur; some explicit nudity in implied orgy scene, but no genitalia shown; alcohol use and man admits he drinks too much; smoking; and, blood oath taken, deception, break-ins, betrayals, and evil dominates throughout movie, with no hope offered.

More Detail:

KILL LIST has nothing but bleakness to offer. It’s a vile and repellent British horror movie with a very strong occult worldview where a Satanist cult wins over a hit man who starts killing people because he’s financially desperate to keep his family afloat. The man slowly loses his sense of restraint and conscience as he beats many of his victims viciously before killing them.

Jay is a former hit man at the beginning, who has been without an assignment for eight months. His wife screams at him in front of their young son, driving him to seek a new “kill list” of victims to target. He pairs up with mild-mannered fellow hit man, Gal, for the list. They accept a kill list from their mysterious new bosses, who later threatens them and their families with death if the hit men back out of the assignment. They find that their victims include a Catholic priest and an old librarian, unlikely candidates for kills. Their boss doesn’t give them a reason why they need to die. Even stranger, the priest and librarian explicitly say “thank you” as they are killed or tortured. The thanks are never explained, but Jay is seen watching an off-camera film that has women screaming on it, implying a violent porn movie. This sets him off on his murderous rampage in a misguided quest for justice.

As they get pulled further into their list, Jay starts torturing and killing all the associates of his official victims. He and Gal finally decide to turn the tables on their employers. They open fire on the Satanic ritual group led by their bosses. The scheme backfires. [SPOILERS FOLLOW] Gal gets injured by return fire and ultimately begs to be euthanized. Then, Jay is captured and forced to fight for his life against an opponent wearing a mask. Only after stabbing his opponent to death does he take off the mask and see he has just fought and killed his wife. Stunned, he stares all around him as the Satanic ritual crowd gives him a strong round of applause, implying that he’s now a full-blown Satanist like them.

KILL LIST builds its sinister momentum well, centered on a strong performance by the lead actor. But, it is so unrelentingly bleak in its worldview and its occult journey that it winds up celebrating the murder and mayhem it depicts. That, combined with the excessively graphic nature of its torture scenes, makes KILL LIST a thoroughly abhorrent, despicable movie. It’s one of the most violent movies ever made.
