While at the All American Christmas Tree Lighting in New York City, Chris Tomlin shared why he believes Americans are turning to God so fanatically.

“There’s an awakening going on in our nation, and I really think people are longing for truth,” Tomlin told Fox News. “We have so much coming at us, so much information coming at us from the left and right. What is true? People are longing for what’s real, they’re longing for peace, forgiveness — the things of Jesus. And this Christmas season, that’s what we celebrate.”

In many ways, America has experienced revival over the past three years with multiple events bringing millions to Christ.

At the beginning of 2023, Asbury College experienced a major revival which sparked similar outbreaks at other colleges across the country. Colleges and universities have remained a hub of revival as many campuses have hosted major faith events led by Christian athletes who use their platform to share the gospel. The Ohio State football team, for example, glorified the Lord last year after winning the National Championship.

This revival, however, has not been confined to only the younger generation. In September, popular political speaker Charlie Kirk was shot and killed on a college campus, and his death inspired millions to begin to take their faith seriously. Kirk was a strong Christian who spoke about his faith at every opportunity.

“His death has sparked what’s being called the Charlie Kirk effect, a surge of young adults testifying that Charlie’s courage in standing up for his faith has them going back to church for the first time in years,” CBN reported. “People that didn’t even know Charlie Kirk were moved by this. And you wonder why that was exactly. Well, look, I think we’re in a spiritual battle, and I think people are searching for the truth. And I think Charlie Kirk was speaking about things of God.”

Meanwhile, faith-based content has been more popular than ever with an influx of high-quality programming to feed the flames. Most recently, Wonder Project’s HOUSE OF DAVID topped the Prime Video TV show charts, while the show’s second season served as the flagship show for Wonder Project’s own streaming service. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

Episode 108 of HOUSE OF DAVID is extremely well-made, exciting and inspiring. The performances are excellent. The final image of a victorious David sends chills. Episode 108 is faithful to the biblical text. It strongly affirms God’s authority over this world. God can help His followers overcome any obstacle. The episode also affirms the power of Scripture and prayer to defeat evil. However, Episode 108 of HOUSE OF DAVID features strong action violence with some blood. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children and young teenagers.

It is clear that America is waking up from its spiritual desert as more and more people find Christ. Hopefully this momentum continues, and we will be able to reclaim our heritage as a nation built on Christian ideals with citizens who earnestly follow the Lord, rather than a country filled with lukewarm cultural Christians.
