McCartney’s band is tight and versatile. They recreate songs from Paul’s Beatle days, as well as poignant solos. McCartney is a brilliant music stylist with an expert grasp of melody and creative song structure. The acoustical quality of this film is also excellent, thanks to sound engineers Leslie Hodge and Jeff Cohen. The downside of GET BACK is director Richard Lester’s occasional attempts to affix political commentary to otherwise simple song lyrics. This political fare is coupled with McCartney’s peace and love grandstanding that has stuck to the Beatles since the 60’s. GET BACK also contains hints of spiritual searching. Pray that Paul McCartney would surrender his life to life to Jesus Christ, as “salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
