HGTV star Jenny Marrs plans to take her new book, Trust God, Love People: Stories of My Openhanded Faith, on the road for a special two-week tour.

“I had originally blocked next week off from filming FIXER TO FABULOUS in case I would need to travel to New York for press or host signing events in ‘larger markets,'” she wrote on Instagram last week.

But when the press opportunities didn’t come through, she admitted that she felt “defeated and frustrated.”

“I was anxious that I wasn’t ‘doing’ enough and would let down my publisher with lackluster launch week sales,” Marrs explained.

“But the heart of it all was my fear that I would let down God. I wanted this book to point people to Him, after all,” she continued. “As I sat with my Abba and admitted my frustration and my (prideful) fears to Him, I felt the words ‘quiet and calm’ wash over my soul. He knew all along. He already knew that my heart would be so weary this week.”

The Marrs family has dealt with personal tragedy over the last few weeks. Marrs revealed in September that her mother-in-law had died.

“He already knew that I really, really didn’t want to leave my babies at home and fly to a big city and sit in front of cameras and lights and smile,” the FIXER TO FABULOUS personality continued. “He knew all along that when my schedule for the week was cleared, I would exhale audibly. He knew I needed to truly hand this book over to Him. I needed to listen to my own words and be open-handed with this thing – this book – that I was holding on too tightly to.”

So, she surrendered her plans to God — “I did my part, now He’ll do His” — and instead will stay close to home with her five-stop tour, beginning on Oct. 7 in Centerton, Arkansas, and concluding in Coral Gables, Florida, on Oct. 15.

In Trust God, Love People, Marrs opens “wide the doors to my life and my family’s home to share stories of how little steps of faith have added up to an unexpected and abundant life.”

She shares about her move to Bentonville, Arkansas, meeting her husband Dave and joys and hardships of wanting to start a family.

“I share intimate glimpses into our years-long fight to adopt our daughter Sylvie from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as behind-the-scenes details about how our work to restore old homes became Fixer to Fabulous,” the synopsis reads.

“Lord, may this book be in the hands of the ones who need the message. Get it there however you see fit. It’s yours, it’s all yours,” Marrs prayed at the end of her post.

Though her book launch isn’t what she expected, Marrs continues to “Trust God” and “Love People,” knowing that the Lord’s plans are better than any of her own.
