GROW star Priya Rose-Brookwell opened up about life on set, plus what she hopes kids take away from the movie.
“Charlie is a spirited child,” she told Movieguide® of her character, a young girl with a special connection to plants. “I think that’s what’s so fun about playing her. The only part we are quite similar is we talk a lot and we’re both a bit crazy.”
GROW “follows Dinah Little (Golda Rosheuvel), a no-nonsense farmer with a tough-as-a-pumpkin exterior, who reluctantly takes in her abandoned niece, Charlie (Rose-Brookwell),” a description of the movie reads.
“When the town’s biggest spectacle, the annual pumpkin-growing contest, is set to take place, Charlie realizes she has something no one else does: a special knack for connecting with plants that quietly reflects her own longing to feel seen and loved. As both pumpkin and plot thicken, Dinah and Charlie’s bond grows stronger as they compete against the fiercest competition the town has ever seen,” the synopsis concludes.

Rose-Brookwell shared that working with her castmates, including comedic actor Nick Frost, was “amazing, incredible,” adding, “Every time Nick was on the set, I was laughing a lot.”
She also spoke about what it was like to balance working as an actor with her personal life.
“I had tutors on the set, so I was getting work done there,” Rose-Brookwell said of completing her schooling. She also got to take a surprise trip home to visit friends during a break in filming.
Rose-Brookwell then shared what she hopes kids who see the movie take away from GROW.
“Always believe in yourself,” she said. “You have to believe in yourself, even if you think you can’t do it. You can! You’ve just got to try.”
GROW is being distributed in America through Fathom Entertainment.
