They feel guilty until Theo explains the significance of Jesus’ death and how, when we accept Him, we are freed from our sins.

THEO: JUSTIFICATION is a simply animated, basic Christian program. It has a strong Christian, biblical worldview with a strong emphasis on faith in Jesus, prayer and education about sin. It has no foul language, violence or immoral content. Luther and Belfry are “everyman” characters who portray, through their adventures, the ways of lost people. On the other hand, Theo is a very godly, focused man who helps guide the mice on the path of righteousness. He describes in an easy way for young children to understand, the story of how Jesus died on a cross, broken and beaten, in order to take away our sins. The program is designed for children under eight but adults will also find its message touching.

More Detail:

THEO: JUSTIFICATION is a short well-intentioned episode of an animated series of videos designed to introduce young children to all aspects of Christianity.

Luther and Belfry are two energetic mice with adventurous spirits. They are good friends with Theo, the human owner of the home, who tells them to stay away from the breakables. Despite their somewhat careful efforts, they manage to break Theo’s very expensive porcelain statue and try to cover up the evidence. Of course, Theo is quick to notice the poorly reconstructed statue but shrugs it off knowing that Luther and Belfry would never intentionally do such a bad thing.

Theo is quick to explain that no one is perfect and that everyone makes mistakes. Of course, he is speaking metaphorically about man’s sinful nature. Theo explains the role that Jesus had in this situation stating that He took away our impurities by dying for us, thus setting us free from our bonds.

Luther and Belfry are “everyman” characters in that they portray, through their adventures, the ways of lost people. On the other hand, Theo is a very godly, focused man who helps guide the mice on the path of righteousness. He describes in an easy way for young children to understand, the story of how Jesus died on a cross, broken and beaten, in order to take away our sins. It is a very heartwarming, touching story that will even stir the emotions of an adult viewer. Praise especially goes to the quality of music in this episode, which beautifully guides the story along and speaks to the soul.

This episode is given three stars for quality because of its very basic, not so original, storyline, poor animation and flat writing. However, for a young audience, the animation is perfectly designed to show the death of Jesus without being graphic. This will not frighten or mortify young children and will in fact educate its audience on the awe inspiring accounts of the stories of Jesus. Therefore, MOVIEGUIDE gives this episode its highest Acceptability Rating. THEO: JUSTIFICATION is a great find for young children.
