7 Christian Celebrities Putting Intentional Effort into Their Marriages

By Tess Farrand, Staff Writer

Aside from putting your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, marriage is one of, if not the most, important decision you can make. With this in mind, it’s encouraging to see these Christian entertainers striving to honor their spouses with intentional effort, given that divorce is so rampant in our culture, especially in the entertainment industry. Below are just a few examples….

  1. Hugh Jackman

Actor, singer and dancer Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness were married in 1996. A 23 year-long marriage is definitely long by Hollywood’s standards, and there are a few things that keep Jackman and Furness grounded despite busy work schedules. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Jackman said, “We’re really honest with each other, we talk about everything. Deb had a few rules when we met ‘cause she’d done a few movies. She said we won’t spend more than two weeks apart.” Another one of their rules for their marriage seems to come straight from Ephesians 4:26-27. Jackman continued, “We never go to bed on a cross word. Sometimes it’s 3 o’clock in the morning, but we kind of work it out before we go to sleep.”

Did you listen yet? This weeks episode of Behind the Scenes podcast made Jeremy cry…. which is saying A LOT if you know Jer😅 ⁣*keep reading* ⁣ Have you ever written a letter to someone you don’t know, or don’t yet know? If you’ve been following me for a while you know this is something I am super passionate about and have been doing for a very long time. Writing letters to my future husband, future kids, and future self, has been a sacred practice that I’m so grateful I learned from a young age. It’s taught me to really lean on the Holy Spirit as I ask Him for the words that would be the most encouraging, affirming, and hope-filled to whomever is the recipient. ⁣ ⁣ One of the reasons I became so passionate about letter writing and so committed to this practice is because of @compassion I’ve been writing letters to Compassion kids since I was in middle school my parents sponsored the kids for us but my siblings and I wrote the letters. Letter in life I started sponsoring my own, and now Jer and I sponsor kids together. I can’t wait for Ember to be able to write letters to them one day and learn the practice of writing letters to someone you don’t know💌⁣ ⁣ All this to say… this week’s episode of @behindthescenespodcast was one of our favorites ever to record🎙We had the honor of talking with Kiwi (a Compassion graduate) and sharing her story about how one person across the world committing to the practice of writing letters and giving $38 a month…changed her life, her family, and her community forever😭 ⁣ ⁣ I challenge you to listen and not get teary eyed… and I also challenge you to consider sponsoring a @compassion child. When you sign up to sponsor a child through our link compassion.com/roloff or text ROLOFF to 83393 we will also send you a 🎉FREE SIGNED COPY🎉 of our book A Love Letter Life for choosing to sponsor a child💌 Seriously, making this decision today could change someone’s entire community forever. I hope you consider. #btspodcast #ALoveLetterLife #compassion

We’ve been married 26 years and still, there’s a lot we disagree on, we’re different people from different backgrounds with different thoughts and ideas that make us who we are, but there’s so much beauty there, so much to be gained from the differences.” She concluded, “true love isn’t always easy, but always worth it!
