Daytime Emmys Move from Hollywood to Virtual Venue

“The show must go on!”
The Daytime Emmys will no longer be an in-person event, but will be broadcast virtually with all the big name stars.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) said in a tweet, “In light of #COVID19, we sadly cannot move forward with our planned trio of ceremonies for 2000+ attendees in June. We are working on alternative ways to best recognize our honorees and will share more details in the weeks ahead.”

Variety reported that the 47th Daytime Emmys were scheduled for June 2020, then postponed, only to ultimately be broadcast virtually. The broadcast date has not yet been revealed.
Adam Sharp, President & CEO of NATAS, said, “These were extremely difficult decisions to make, but at the end of the day the health and safety of our event attendees and staff must remain our paramount concern.”
Award season for movies typically occurs during the winter season, so this is one of the few award broadcasts that fell prey to COVID-19 restrictions.
Currently NATAS is working on creative ways to engage an audience with the abrupt changes. Currently, there’s no scheduled airdate or host.
Executive Director of Daytime Emmy Awards, Brent Stanton, said, “Judging continues, and we look forward to announcing our incredibly talented nominees later this Spring. We are working on some interesting alternative ideas for how to best recognize the honorees later this year and will share more details in the weeks ahead.
