Why THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL Season Three Isn’t a Good Fit for Families

Season three of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL on Amazon Prime Video follows Midge (A.K.A. Miriam Maisel) as she sets out to tour and open for musician Shy Baldwin.

If you were a fan of GILMORE GIRLS, this show could be right up your alley. THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL is from the creators of the aforementioned series and the comedy mirrors that of what audiences know from Lorelai and Rory Gilmore.

What THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL struggles with, though, are the jokes. Most of the time the jokes aren’t that funny because of all the foul language in them.

Furthermore, a lot of the jokes are lewd and talk about subjects that aren’t very family friendly, focusing heavily on sex.

This season also features Midge’s manager, Susie, as she’s develops an addiction to gambling.

Throughout the eight episodes, audiences also see Midge and Joel (her ex-husband) sleeping together, characters drinking sometimes to the point of drunkenness, tiny outfits are worn by dancers, a man attempts to cheat on his wife while out at a club, and someone commits a felony. Shy also comes out to Midge as a homosexual man.

However, with all the negative there are some positive themes.

Midge and Joel love their children and try to do what’s best for them. The two of them even get re-married after spending a night in Las Vegas together, and are still married at the end of the season.

There is a comment about how money can break a heart, which shows that some characters know money isn’t the most important thing in life.

The show also takes place in the 1960’s during the civil rights movement. Even though the movement isn’t mentioned, Midge’s tour with Shy and his band show positive friendships and interactions between white and black people.

Overall though, the third season of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL has way too much foul language and lewd jokes to be worth watching.
