Alex Trebek Announces Plans to Return to JEOPARDY!

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

We’ll take “When will Alex Trebek return to JEOPARDY!? for $500 Alex.”

JEOPARDY! host Alex Trebek plans to return to the game show, despite its hiatus from COVID-19 and his pancreatic cancer.

“Alex is looking forward to resuming production as soon as we are able to do so. He’s told us he wants to be one of the first shows back in production,” a rep told TV Line.

JEOPARDY! Stopped production in March, but TV Line reported, “This Friday [June 12th], Jeopardy! will air its final original, pre-COVID-19 episode before entering into an indeterminate, potentially months-long period of reruns.”

Although there’s speculation that the reruns mean Trebek won’t come back in the future, this is mere speculation as of today.

Some fans were apprehensive for Trebek’s return given his severe cancer diagnosis.

However, Trebek doesn’t fear the end of his life.

Trebek said in 2019, “I’m not afraid of dying. One thing they’re not gonna say at my funeral as a part of a eulogy was ‘[he was] taken from us too soon.’ I’m 79 years old, so I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life.”

Fans have flocked to support Trebek since his cancer announcement in 2019 and don’t want him to leave the show.

A commenter on Fox News hilariously said, “Sorry, you have contracts you must honor so your death will have to suspended at least 15 more years. If you have a problem with this call me….God Bless….”

Similar commenters on Facebook and other social media platforms continue to lift up Trebek in prayer.
