Sam (Rebecca Olson) is a magazine writer looking for her big break. A writer of acute talent, those around her always support her in her dream of becoming a romance novelist. Recently, she’s been assigned a cover story for her magazine. Things get awkward when the assignment takes her back to her hometown, which brings up old memories of the relationship she had with her ex-boyfriend, Liam (Marcus Rosner).

As it turns out, Sam bumps into her former boyfriend in town. He still runs the same vineyard his family has owned and operated for decades. Their first encounter involves the two literally bumping into each other. That leaves both feeling off-put. They both harbor ill feelings toward one another. Each feels that the other abandoned them when they had planned to meet up on their dating anniversary. Due to a misunderstanding, however, each showed up to the agreed-upon location on different dates. Also, because neither felt comfortable reaching out to the other, there was never any clarity or closure regarding their relationship.

Now, Liam is engaged. The very wedding Sam’s is supposed to cover for her magazine is that of Liam to his fiancée, a busy social media influencer who has a hard time staying far from the city life scene. Meanwhile, Sam is still struggling to put the finishing touches on her romance novel. As time passes, incidents in her own life translate to the pages of her romantic fantasy.

Sam doesn’t know if she can go through with reporting the wedding story for her editor. After all, Liam’s presence is sort of a thorn in her memory. Her editor pressures her to keep at it. Reluctantly, she does so. Things between Sam and Liam escalate before they find resolution. For example, Sam avoids confronting Liam, and Liam initially shuns the interview questions Sam presses on him.

However, once they begin to open up a dialogue with one another, Sam and Liam begin to realize that their unspoken breakup was nothing but a terrific misunderstanding.

Will Sam and Liam get back together? What about Liam’s bride-to-be? And, will Sam finish her romance novel?
