Christian Receiver Cooper Kupp Looks to Finish Historic NFL Season Strong At Super Bowl LVI

Wide receiver Cooper Kupp helped lead the LA Rams to victory against the San Francisco 49ers to win the NFC championship and earn a trip to Super Bowl LVI.

Kupp snagged 11 passes on 142 yards and scored the Ram’s only two touchdowns in their 20-17 victory. Kupp became the first player in NFL history to have 13 games with over 100 receiving yards in one season.

At 28 years old, Kupp also won the triple crown for receivers and led the NFL in total receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns during the regular season. The Rams finished the regular season atop the NFC West with a 12-5 record.

Despite his NFL resume, Kupp’s outlook on football and life comes from his faith in God. After defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend, Kupp wore a hat from his clothing line that read: “Do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

The phrase is inspired by 1 Corinthians 9:25, which reads: “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

Kupp referenced Proverbs 16:9 in a post-game press conference early in the season.

“The verse that was on my mind was, ‘The heart of man chooses his path but the Lord establishes his steps,’” he said. “It just gave me so much freedom to go out there and play free, give everything I had [and] know the results rested in Him.”

Although Kupp experienced the Super Bowl in 2019, it was from the sideline after he suffered a season-ending ACL tear before the championship game.

Despite the difficult task of sitting out, Kupp said he used the time to rely on the Lord.

“I needed God. I needed to trust in what my faith was,” Kupp told CBN at the time. “Just having my wife and son to be able to push me through this, my teammates, the coaching staff, the training staff, the strength staff — I just had a team around me that encouraged me and really showed me how important it was to have people around me that God’s really placed in my life.”

This year, Kupp and the Rams will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals at SoFi Stadium on Feb. 13.
